Art Opening: André at La Cour. Music by Chappell Kingsland

André Lippard is a native artist specializing in oil on canvas. His styles range from Japanese Minimalism, abstraction, cubism and surrealism. Sometimes his images are simple and calm, invoking a meditative state. Sometimes his images are so complex in detail you find yourself getting lost within them.

Chappell Kingsland is a proponent of the virtuoso rock genre: exciting arrangements and fiery performances of rock & pop songs by classical instrumentalists.  His piano solo repertoire includes arrangements of U2, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Adele, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, Joni Mitchell, Queen, Genesis, Elton John, The Police, and much more.
Chappell has thrilled audiences across the country with his piano and organ concerts.  His debut album, Rock Piano Solos, will be released late summer 2017.  Chappell is the leader of Electric Athena, an instrumental rock band (violin, cello, piano & drumset) which gives an unforgettable twist to famous songs.  He will play the world’s first piano concerto based on the music of Led Zeppelin with orchestras in Boulder and Denver in 2018.
Chappell teaches Theory, Aural Skills and Piano Class at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music.  He also works as an accompanist (for the Denver Waldorf School and Arvada Chorale) and music director (at Salem United Church of Christ).  His compositions and arrangements are performed by choirs, chamber orchestras, soloists, and opera companies.  The Firebringers, his newest opera for young audiences, was most recently produced by the Boulder Opera.  Chappell and Electric Athena will give several virtuoso rock concerts in Colorado during the 2017-18 season.
